A friend of mine went to the high school that Edwards' son, Wade, attended before he passed away. Edwards ended up donating a ton of money to the school. Unfortunately, "trying to make a social difference, a moral difference, and a positive difference" can hurt as much as it can help. Just ask the doctors who Edwards sued using emotion rather than science (re: cerebral palsy). As time has gone by it's become clear that Edwards' good intentions were misdirected and he was on the wrong side of science. The road to hell is paved....yada yada yada. In the end, he's a politician. And a good one at that. But he's not particularly unique.
