StumbleUpon launches StumbleVideo

Social bookmarking site StumbleUpon is growing rapidly. Their latest addition is StumbleVideo, a truly brilliant notion. Just as with the link, just “stumble” upon a user submitted video clip. How’s that for killing time online?

Check out StumbleVideo yourself. Refreshingly lacking any beta tags.

2 people thinks stuff!

  1. What the company is doing, is making all the content from these video sharing sites available to the users, but without actually driving traffic to these sites. So while YouTube (Google) is paying to host the content, StumbleVideo is streaming the content to users for free, and at no cost to themselves. So far this is okay because they are using the publicly available APIs from the sites, but what happens if Google decides that it doesn’t want to give StumbleVideo a free ride?

  2. That most certainly is a problem. Then again, perhaps Youtube will start adding ads after the video, then every showing is a win-win situation. That would be a reasonable solution perhaps.
