I'm not sure if I agree if BBC is putting Twitter to good use. They aren't the only news source on Twitter (NYTimes, Google, CNN also do the same thing). These news sources are simply posting their latest RSS updates, which to me is noise for my purposes of Twitter (especially because there's so much of it!). Sure, some people will disagree, but I found the news updates so frequent and annoying that I removed all except CNN Breaking News (which doesn't seem to break news that often), thereby making my Twitter experience almost solely that of following friends and admirers, which is what I like most about Twitter.
