Beatles to go digital next year

new media newsI wonder what took them so long to make this decision but as they say, better late than never.

Sir Paul McCartney has told music website Billboard.biz that the Beatles‘ catalog will be available online starting next year. According McCartney:

it’s all happening soon. Most of us are all sort of ready. The whole thing is primed, ready to go — there’s just maybe one little sticking point left, and I think it’s being cleared up as we speak, so it shouldn’t be too long. It’s down to fine-tuning, but I’m pretty sure it’ll be happening next year, 2008.

When asked about the delay of this much awaited online release, McCartney said it was due to some “contractual issues” and meticulous planning of all parties connected with the project.

But if you’re a Beatles fanatic like me who can’t wait until next year, the solo catalogs of the Fab Four are already available for download since last month.
