BlogHer brings conference to Second Life
BlogHer, a blogger community of women who write about various topics, announced today a virtual presence for its upcoming conference July 27-29 in Chicago. The chosen medium for this virtual extension? Second Life.
BlogHer plans to use the Second Life platform as a way to offer up the conference to those who cannot make it in person. It will be complete with general sessions, audio feeds, and a virtual cocktail party. BlogHer hopes the Second Life experience will provide “an interactive format designed to inspire discussion.”
The host of the BlogHer Second Life event will be BlogHer Contributing editor Erin Kotecki Vest of the Queen of Spain blog. Vest writes for the Huffington Post as well as covering politics and news for BlogHer.
“BlogHer is committed to providing leadership to women online about exciting new technologies that give us the power to connect with people and issues we care about,” said Lisa Stone, BlogHer Co-founder. “When Erin approached us about bringing BlogHer ’07 to Second Life, we saw the opportunity as one more way to serve our mission of creating opportunities for women who blog to gain additional exposure, education and community.”
