Book publishers finally gets into the online game

I can’t believe that huge publishing houses like Random House and HarperCollins haven’t taken the necessary steps online yet. I mean, seriously, take a look at Amazon and the various ways you can browse books and read excerpts, interact and all. You’re missing the party, folks.

According to a Reuters report, these two publishers have finally arrived. Both are embracing widget-like functionality, soon on a MySpace page near you if the report are to be believed.

This slack attitude is what’s giving old media a hard time today, be it newspapers or publishing houses.
