Chess.com launches social network
With a premium domain as such, I’d have to agree, Chess.com would have made a lot of money already, just parked as it is.
But the owners of Chess.com wants something more. And they made a good decision by turning it into a social network of, obviously, chess enthusiasts around the world.
Launched in June and now with over 10,000 members, and 1 million page views on the first month alone, Chess.com gives members access to a wide range of fun stuff including profiles, blogs, video sharing, events posting, directory of clubs, email (users get to have user@chess.com), the opportunity to connect with people with the same love for chess, and a whole lot more.

Primary Students Chess Tournament Only of its kind in INDIA
2nd Buddhidata Vinayak Rolling Trophy Chess Tournament for Boys & 2nd Buddhidevata Vinayak Rolling Trophy Chess Tournament for Girls from Primary Students of Goa organized by Taleigao Chess Academy in association with Goa State Chess Association will be held on Saturday September 8 & Sunday September 9 at NIO Community hall, Donapaula. Student of 1st to 4th std can participate in this tournament.
No limit on number of participant from a School. Students should participate in full school uniform.
Chess tournament will be played in Swiss League System where in all the players can play all the rounds. First three rounds will be on Saturday 8th Sep after 2.00pm & next 4 or 5 rounds (total 7 or 8 rounds) will be on Sunday 9th Sep from 9.00am to 6.00pm followed by prize distribution function. There will be lunch break of one hour in between 1.00 to 2.00pm.
Prizes will be given to first three in each section. Rolling Trophy will go to that school whose commulative score of top two students is more. In addition two prizes each in both boys and girls section will be given to each four standards i.e. 1st to 4th Std.
Entry fee Rs.50/- Entry forms will be available from 15th August 2009 at Taleigao Chess Academy, Dynasty Manor, Odlembhat, Near Bank of India, Taleigao, Caranzalem Goa.
