Creating Killer Link Receptive Resources

linkbaitingIn last weeks post on Linkbaiting I introduced you to linkbaiting. I also made the blanket statement that Wikipedia was the best living linkbait on the planet. I want to explain how easy it is to create resources that are highly link receptive.

Link Receptive Resources are easily explained as stuff people want to link to.

I was recently pondering a few link receptive resources I’ve been wanting to link to. The first person that comes to mind is Andy Hagans. He seems to create, or have his team of workers create stuff that just asks to be linked to.

Remix and Reorganize Content To Make It Link Receptive
Instead I want to talk about Elite Skills’ Massive Resource List For All Autodidacts. This link alone has been huge in picking up links at the moment in Yahoo Site Explorer it had picked up 4k plus inlinks.

Creating a highly link receptive resource can be as simple as organizing the disorganized. I knew about a lot of the resources they were providing on this list, however I didn’t have them all in the same place and easily laid out like this.

Building highly link receptive content is hard. But the hard part is getting down and dirty. Rarely do you have to create your own content. But you have to remix, and organize other people’s content in a fashion that is useful and helpful to the community.

Engage Bloggers and the Crowds of Internet Users on Social Media Sites such as Digg,Reddit, and Del.icio.us
The blogosphere, and social media addicts are the best people to provide inbound links because they are always on and always willing to pass out links. Thus the smartest link building campaigns are those that start with a highly planned out resource and that involve influential bloggers, or bloggers that are well networked.

Another great place to engage bloggers in various forums. B5Media recently opened up their forums, 9rules has a section called Notes that public users can take part in, and Random Shapes has a public forum section as well.

This is a great place to build some local organic momentum. Great ways to pitch your ‘resource’ is to send a quick email, PM, and explain in real passionate words why you think your resource is valuable for their readers. Mention the digg/reddit, and delicious link and suggest if they like it to go ahead and take part that way as well. And if they would pass it on to friends and readers.

It’s a One-Two Step
Seriously that’s how easy it is to create a highly link receptive resource. It’s like dancing. You just have to take the time to organize it. If you are to busy to organize something like this, go ahead and hire a blogger to help you organize the content and help spread the word.

A great place to hire bloggers is The Blog Job also of course check out ProBlogger’s Job Board.

P.S. Another great way to build links is to hire a web designer to build a customizable theme to release to the open source community of WordPress. Then upload it to the various theme repositories, email Blogging Pro, and Weblog Tools Collection and sit back and watch the links flow in. Trust me this works.
