Rhiza
Thanks for the post. We are definitely hoping to take DailyMotion much further with this round. The founders started this as a friends' project and from very grassroots beginning it's become somewhat of a phenomenon (in France it's in mainstream media every day and played a major role in the last election, whilst it's also quite big in Japan, the UK, growing well in Germany, the US). Hopefully we can keep the fresh and creative tone that has been the trademark of this business from the beginning whilst at the same time finding industrial means of stopping copyright infringement, which is a challenge for all of us in this industry. A lot of the creative juices in the business have actually been dedicated to finding innovative ways of going well beyond what the law requires to help protect content. I would say that today DailyMotion and probably Metacafe are best in class in their proactive efforts to stem infringement. At the same time we want to keep innovating and offering exciting features to our community, so we are hoping that this does not turn into a war of attrition that in the end only Google can win. May be the best site rise to the top :-)
