DMOZ is back online – does anyone care?
The open directory, DMOZ, is back online after months of problems. Maybe they have been for a while, I’m not sure… Does anyone really care, except the SEO people who want to get more inbound links to pimp the Google juice. Sure, there are directory sites that build upon the Open Directory Project (that’s DMOZ folks) but does it really matter today?
Maybe it does. I didn’t miss the site when it was down though. Did you?

DMOZ may be yesterday’s news, but is there still a place for human-powered search? We at Bessed.com think so, and welcome Webmasters to submit with us (free) and not have to wait light years to see if you’ll be accepted.

DMOZ is one of those projects where you would love them to leverage that massive community of dedicated editors into something more than a static directory.
I only noticed something was awry at DMOZ when I launched a non-profit project a few weeks back and thought I may as well list it only to see submissions were blocked. It didn’t phase me though which is kind of sad because back in the day I would have cared.
