Based on the upcoming comScore September 2007 user engagement and page views data, GigaOM pointed out that Facebookâ€™s unique visitors has declined by 9.3%, from 33.75 million in August 2007 to 30.6 million in September 2007. Moreover, page views also went down by almost 4%.
But TechCrunch is quick to refute Om Malikâ€™s analysis, saying there isnâ€™t enough information yet to make any kind of definitive statement about Facebook traffic. Since comScore only tracks US traffic, it can be misleading because Facebookâ€™s growth is propelled by non-US users over the last year.
These traffic statistics are very important these days in light of Facebookâ€™s attempt to get additional funding.
