Going.com launches new version in discovering events and people of similar interests

Going.com, the destination for those who want to know what’s happening in their cities, debuted their version 3.0 which includes a host of new features. Going.com is enabling users to learn about what events matter to them, what their friends are doing, and what other like-minded people are planning to do in their cities.

Central to the new version is an events and people recommendation engine that allows users to discover events and people in their area that they like. Going’s proprietary algorithm for this engine is centered around discovery that improves with the frequency of site usage. Thus, the more someone utilizes Going.com to find and select events to attend, the smarter the engine becomes at predicting relevant suggestions. This joins other new features such the first calendar functionality in local entertainment that allows users to see what their friends are also doing on specific days of the month.

Beyond actual events, Going 3.0 enables users to connect with other like-minded people based on similar event patterns, making the recommendation engine also about discovering people with similar interests.
