Google Maps: NY to Dublin via 3,462 mile swim

Bug, or deliberate? New York to Dublin, Ireland via Google Maps:

My question though: if you were swimming across the Atlantic to get to Ireland why would you come ashore in France then hook back through England to get there? bizarre :-)
