Livemocha revolutionizes language learning market with new social networking based approach

livemocha.jpgLivemocha, a language learning company, today announced the availability of a new Internet based language learning solution integrating online instructional content with a global community of language learners. Livemocha addresses a $20 billion worldwide market for language learning fueled by rapid globalization, immigration and travel. Applying the latest trends in social networking, is looking at transforming a market that has seen little innovation since the introduction of CD-ROM technology in the 1990s. Livemocha teaches everyday language in a fun and engaging manner and leverages the native language proficiency of its member base to provide a peer-to-peer tutoring and support system that keeps learners engaged and achieving real results.

Livemocha will launch with support for six popular languages – English, Spanish, French, Hindi, German, and Mandarin Chinese.

  1. I have tried many online courses and so far it has been just ok. I think is best to speak with a real person in a country where there is English or whatever language as the principal or official language. Speaking based on a book is sometimes not what people need…

  2. Hi, have you tried Lingorilla ? They provide video-based languages learning, for example some practical scenes in German such as meet and greet people, ordering in a restaurant, visiting a doctor, etc. It´s sort of a short, but complete story and therefore somehow “entertaining”. I like it, because I can repeat the video as often as I like i.e. need ;-) In adition they offer exactly what you asked for: video-chat with native speakers. -> http://www.lingorilla.com

  3. Hi, it looks like you guys have not seen Espoirtech products. Here i gulf countries, we use it widely. Many of our friends use “Smarten Your English through Success Secrets” and “Smarten Your English through Movies”. I heard that “English through Love & Romance’ is also wonderful. Check it out. But the problem is that in many outlets you have to wait a lot to grab a copy of the same. They have problem with distribution or their products are of high demand.
