Netscape Navigator 9 web browser announced, integrates social stuff

Netscape Navigator 9The Netscape Navigator web browser what was sparked Mozilla, which in turn gave us the best choice for surfing the web today, namely Firefox. So an announcement of Netscape Navigator 9 is of course exciting, although it’s hard to tell if the browser will have any impact whatsoever.

Netscape 9 will be a standalone browser, and from this screenshot, you can infer several things: unlike Netscape 8, Netscape 9 will contain support for newsfeeds (a.k.a. Live Bookmarks); it will also have tight integration with the Netscape.com service, as evidenced by the icons for the two available Netscape.com extensions (Friends’ Activity Sidebar and the Sitemail Notifier). Several Netscape.com-based extensions will be built into the browser; only these two have been previously announced.

If nothing else it might prove to be a nice tool for Netscape.com users. The announcement was made on The Unofficial Netscape FAQ frontpage and forum. No preview (other than the image above) or beta code have been released.
