Only 5 million US citizens use mobile internet: study
A study by Media-Screen has found that only 5% of people with broadband connections in the United States, approximately five million people, use the mobile Internet, despite 60% of them having a mobile internet device.
The report also found that mobile internet remains unpopular due to cost and connectivity issues including coverage.
Worse still, if you’re running a Web 2.0 company aimed at mobile users, the report found that those using mobile internet perform an average of 3.3 online activities on their mobile device per session, compared to 13.4 activities on regular computers..essentially those using mobile internet don’t actually do a lot with it.
Full details from the study can be found here.

that’s quite small as compare with the economic power of amercia. since in china, the china mobile phone online users are up to 16 million frequent users who use WAP online. and such amount of the users are kept of increasing due to the gprs is redu ced the price a lot with only USD0.16 for unlimited bandwidth and time of online via mobile phone. for the mobile phone web2.0, china is even more aggressive, since most of the text contents or the marcomedia contents are for free to download, the mobile phone operator do not care for it, they make the main revenue from the ARPU of the very large online user community.

Accessing the Internet through the mobile phone is indeed increasing. As I was reading some articles online I found out that by the end of this year there will be more smartphones in the United States market than traditional feature phones. In addition, in the event ThinkingMobile, hosted by Google, they reported that the searches performed on mobile devices has increased a 400% and that currently a 20% of their searches are performed through a cellphone.
So as of today it is important for businesses to created mobile websites in order to deepen the reach of their audience.
As a response, companies developing mobile technologies have started to create platforms in order to allows businesses build their mobile sites. The Build.Mobi platform, developed by Lenco Mobile Inc, allows clients to build and manage hundreds of mobile websites through a central interface. And one of the most important advantages is that this can be created instantaneously. For multiple websites build.mobi users may use our CSV bulk upload or for single sites, we have a simple 5 step process. Either way, users will have a mobile presence in minutes with Buil.mobi.
