Red Sox sweeps online search, too
In addition to winning the 2007 World Series in a four game sweep, the Boston Red Sox are the clear winners over the Colorado Rockies in natural search visibility, according to a recent analysis by leading digital marketing company iCrossing.
iCrossing’s analysis shows that, based on results returned on the five major search engines using keywords pertaining to baseball, the Red Sox have 93 percent of the natural search visibility market share, compared to the Rockies’ seven percent. Coincidentally, this ratio is the same as the 13 to 1 final score of Game One of the World Series.
“The offline strength of more established baseball franchises such as the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs is reflected in the digital universe. Younger brands (and ball clubs) need to be creative if they want to build their online visibility,” said Jeffrey Herzog, founder and CEO, iCrossing.
