The Weather Channel Interactive, Vantrix launch first ad-supported mobile video forecasts

vantrix.pngThe Weather Channel Interactive and Vantrix announced plans to launch a new mobile video service available through The Weather Channel mobile. Wireless users who visit weather.com on virtually any video-enabled handset can watch weather reports for 100 different US cities, along with regional and national video forecasts, travel weather reports and weather-related news stories.

With the use of technology developed by Vantrix, the service can ensure that anyone with a multimedia-capable phone can access the content and have a video experience that is optimized for their specific phone without the need to download any additional software. Forecasts for the 100 metropolitan areas covered will be refreshed every thirty minutes, to ensure that they capture the latest information available, resulting in nearly 5,000 new videos every day.
