TV Shows About Blogging?
Fox News Channel is debuting a new TV show on Sunday Feb 25th about blogging called It’s Out There. Actually, it’s not so much about blogging as about hot blogs and social spaces.
Now how mainstream does blogging have to be before this sort of thing happens? I guess we’re there now. One of the hosts is conservative politblogger Michelle Malkin, who has her own loyal following. The other host is Kirsten Powers, formerly a part of the Clinton administration.
Well, at least there’s some balance in the choice of hosts. It should make for some interesting viewing. Or maybe not. Who does Fox think will watch this show, beyond Malkin’s fans? They’re trying to capture the Sunday night audience with this show, preceded by a fake news show that has a sound track, of all things.
What’s even stranger is that the first episode is about Senator John Edward’s virtual campaign HQ. It would have been far more interesting to see how Senator Barack Obama’s campaign crew is using new media such as their Brightcove Internet TV channel, a social network (my.BarackObama), and blogs from network members. Other presidential candidates could learn something from such a TV episode about the current Websident.
While it’s a bold step, embracing new media into the bosom of old media, I’m not sure I’d care to see a TV show hosted by two non-TV personalities with no experience. Especially when there are great shows already running on Sunday nights. What do you think? Will you watch?

Michelle doesn’t have no experience. She’s been a guest on TV for years and has done some guest hosting gigs, including for Bill O’Reilly where she did pretty well.

[...] And on Fox no less? David Krug posted about a show on the Fox News Network (which I don’t get) this Sunday on blogging. They are going to start off with John Edwards’ campaign office in Second Life. I agree with David, there are much more interesting things to talk about. While it’s a bold step, embracing new media into the bosom of old media, I’m not sure I’d care to see a TV show hosted by two non-TV personalities with no experience. we’re talking extreme right-wing biased michelle malkin. I’d rather gouge my eyes out than look or listen to her or extreme right-wing Bill O’Reilly. Not that the other one sounds interesting either. I’m Libertarian, if a Canadian can call himself that. (Fiscally conservative, socially liberal.)
Now if Darren Rowse or David Krug hosted a TV show about blogging, well I’ll have my TV capture card running.
