Twitter marketshare up 55% last week
The market share of visits to Twitter increased 55% last week according to Hitwise, reflecting the massive buzz the service is getting in the blogosphere.
However the increase in market share only took Twitter to 41,100 amongst all sites tracked by Hitwise, and to 1,412 in the Net Communities & Chat category, which as LeeAnn Prescott from Hitwise correctly noted shows just how far it has to go to reach mass adoption.
Twitter’s Alexa stats also show continued growth with the site, with Twitter reaching 588th most visited site on the internet (March 20), up from a 1 week average of 740 and 3 month average of 3,735.
It will be interesting going forward to see not only whether the trends upward continue, but also as to whether Twitter can handle the new users, with the service experiencing regular slowness, and occasional downtimes.

Have you seen http://www.celebritytwitter.com. Someone has registerd all of the famous stars and follows them using twitter.
