UK second biggest users of social network sites
Despite its relatively slow broadband speed compared to other countries worldwide, Ofcom reports that UK is the second biggest user of popular social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Bebo next to Canada.
About 40% of adult users in UK are registered members of different social network sites. One million of these users frequent these sites at the average of 23 days per month for 5.3 hours.
Still, Canadians rule these social networks with 53% of Internet users are registered members. Runner-ups include US (34%), Japan (32%), Italy (22%), France (17%) and Germany (12%).
Though this is good news for owners like Zuckerberg, companies are not happy with the results. The report mentioned that there is an estimated $266 million loss in productivity as employees spend more time in these sites.
