washingtonpost.com launches election widget

washingtonwidget.pngwashingtonpost.com announced two new ways to get comprehensive candidate news and information from its website without having to be on the site, or even on a computer.

The “Election Collection ‘08” will provide complete candidate profiles organized in easy-to-navigate tabs, including biographical information, the latest news feeds, campaign event schedules, and fundraising data. Available as a widget or portable application, users can conveniently access washingtonpost.com’s campaign coverage from their personalized web pages, blogs or social networks.

As part of that mobile strategy, washingtonpost.com is also expanding the politics section of its mobile site to include an Election ’08 channel. This subsection will soon allow users to access the same comprehensive candidate information they can find on the site and in the “Election Collection ’08” widget, including bio information, news, campaign stops and campaign financing.
