Yahoo acquires Zimbra

UPDATE: Zimbra confirmed that Yahoo has acquired the company.

Techcrunch is reporting that Yahoo is buying Zimbra, an open source messaging and collaboration company, for $350 million in cash. This report comes just a few days after Yahoo bought BuzzTracker.

  2. About time! You’d think someone like Apple might have snapped Zimbra up months ago… I actually thought they had until I read this news on my hosting provider’s blog http://blog.01.com

    Zimbra’s been out there and I suspect just talking with interested buyers for like the last year. They must have chosen Yahoo cause the price was right, and the strategy sound…? Well, it seems like it was a cash deal, so maybe strategy had less to do with it than return, baby.
