FindYourArtSchool.com announced the launch of an innovative and community-driven online art competition. The art contest will allow submissions through June 15, 2008, and is giving away $3,500 in prizes. The online art competition is targeted to younger adults ages 16 – 35, and uses community-based voting to help determine the winner.
The website allows a simple two-step process for an artist to submit work. There is no entry fee and artists can submit up to 20 pieces of art each.

Zoho announced Zoho Invoice, its online invoice generation and tracking application for organizations that want to run their businesses online.
With Zoho Invoice, Zoho further expands its suite of business applications, which also includes Zoho CRM, Zoho Meeting, Zoho Projects, Zoho DB, and the recently-announced Zoho People. Zoho Invoice brings online invoices and estimates, multi-currency support, online payment options, and more to consultants, individual professionals, and other one-person companies, as well as traditional small and medium businesses.

Vringo has announced a new Facebook application that lets Vringo users import their Facebook friends’ profile photos to their mobile phones, automatically matching them to friends’ phone numbers. When Facebook friends call one another, their friend’s photos will appear on their phone screens as a type of visual caller ID.
The Vringo application enables Facebook users to update the photos on their devices through Facebook when friends change their profile pictures. Facebook users who add the application can also invite friends to become Vringo users.
The application initially will be offered free on a global basis. Vringo for Facebook is available for BlackBerry smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM) and devices operating on the Windows Mobile platform. The application will also be available for additional mobile devices in the near future.

Adobe Systems Incorporated announced that the pre-release alpha version of Adobe AIR software for Linux operating systems is available on Adobe Labs. The Linux community of developers can now use proven Web technologies, such as HTML, Ajax, Adobe Flash and Adobe Flex software, to build rich Internet applications (RIAs) that deploy to desktops across operating systems. RIA developers can extend the reach of their desktop applications on Adobe AIR to Linux users without writing additional platform-specific code, providing access to innovative, branded desktop applications that were previously only available to Mac and Windows users.
An update to the alpha version of Adobe Flex Builder 3 for Linux software is also available on Adobe Labs, which adds support for creating applications that run on Adobe AIR. The combination of Flex, Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash Player 9 for Linux comprises a well supported, free RIA development platform that enables developers to build, debug and deploy RIAs entirely on Linux, and across browsers and desktops.

Yahoo! Inc. announced the launch of Yahoo! Shine, a new website for women that aims to provide the information most relevant to their daily lives. The site offers nine categories ranging from Fashion & Beauty to Parenting, and will feature content from many of the most popular lifestyles publishers, including Condé Nast Publications and Hearst Corporation.
The new site will help create a better experience for women within the age group of 25-54, while providing Yahoo! advertisers with a single lifestyles destination to reach this coveted demographic. Yahoo! Shine brings together the resources of several existing Yahoo! sites, including Yahoo! Food and Yahoo! Astrology, and will incorporate content from Yahoo! Health. Bringing these resources together is an example of Yahoo! Media’s focus on building larger category sites for mass audiences, rather than focusing on niche topics and smaller audiences.

ThemesWiki.org a new website designed to provide users with comprehensive, free guides for designing Web Themes and Templates has launched. This site intends to ease the web design process by providing tutorials for a large number of systems at a common location.
ThemesWiki.org is part of an ongoing process at Packt to develop unique methods of contributing to the Open Source community. Notable other initiatives include the website on free installation tutorials, InstallationWiki.org, and the annual Open Source CMS Award that has a total prize package of $20,000 to be divided among several winning projects.
