BitTorrent, Orb Networks team up to make media available anytime on any device
BitTorrent and Orb Networks announced a partnership to enable BitTorrent downloads to be enjoyed on any connected device. By bundling the BitTorrent software client application and the Orb PC application together, the companies can deliver faster, easier, anywhere access to downloaded content, personal media, and web-resident content.
With Orb and BitTorrent installed on their PC, users will see a familiar media library view of all the media on that computer. Organized by media type, users can quickly and easily organize their titles, make playlists, and share content with their friends via email, SMS, or on a social networking-like page. Simply put, BitTorrent enables the download of content to the home and Orb enables access to that content from any device the user may own.
There are already millions of people who use BitTorrent to access a global library of rich media, including branded content from more than 60 movie studios and content providers worldwide through BitTorrent’s Torrent Entertainment Network. In addition, numerous musicians use BitTorrent’s leading peer-accelerated software to deliver their music, including Radiohead, Dave Matthews Band, NIN, and countless independent bands.
