Detroit allows checking of crime online
The Detroit Police Department launched CrimeView Community, allowing users to search for recent crimes in areas of the city they select.
The site allows users to select from 23 crimes, including arson, auto theft and armed robbery, and enter an address or school to determine the crimes that have been reported nearby. The site then generates a map with symbols representing the selected crimes committed in the area. (Source: Freep.com)
