Eventful, Inc., the leading service for discovering, sharing, creating and promoting local events, has released its Artist Tracker, a service that provides free instant email alerts to fans when their favorite musicians and artists schedule performances in their town.

The new Artist Tracker makes it simple for Eventful’s users to indicate which performers they like and immediately begin receiving alerts whenever their favorites come to town. Users choose their favorites by importing the performers in their iTunes and Last.fm libraries, choosing artists through Eventful’s collaborative filtering recommendation engine, or inputting their favorites directly via a type-ahead selector.
