Google Apps Team Edition launched
Hoping to take advantage of Microsoft’s distracted attention due to acquisition of Yahoo, Google has launched several direct attacks against Bill Gate’s powerful Office programs.
Today, it has launched Google Apps Team Edition crafted to help people in small businesses, non-profit agencies and schools collaborate easily using its free Office-like applications such as spreadsheets, word-processing documents, slide presentation program and messaging services.
Thanks to its newly acquired messaging company Postini, Google also launched an email management software capable of protecting confidential documents and filtering spams.
Timing is very essential in Google’s attack. If the merger of Microsoft and Yahoo! pushes through, it could result to slow down of operations, low morale of employees and other distractions. This will give Google a chance to attract new customers and convert other Microsoft users.
