Shutterfly launches photo-based social network

shutterfly Shutterfly launches photo based social networkPersonal publishing site Shutterfly, Inc. has launched Shutterfly Share Sites, a new service that combines the best of photo sites, blogs, and social networking in a way that allows customers to easily connect and collaborate with friends and family in a safe and secure environment. Share Sites bring a new dimension to story-telling by creating a single destination to solve the challenges of “multiple camera, single event” photo occasions like family reunions, weddings and team sporting events.

When visiting the Share Site, members can add photos, share photo books, write journal entries and post comments. Even better, in just a few clicks, members can make a variety of photo books, cards, calendars and other photo merchandise using the photos from their Share Site. Also, Share Site owners receive a dedicated email address for their site where members can email comments and photos that are posted directly to their Share Site.

Shutterfly customers have created more than 60,000 individual Share Sites since the Company opened its beta test earlier this summer.
