Meebo delivers new features for increase user engagement

Meebo has announced a major product update to its social communications technology. With the addition of multi-network IM access, users can now interact across all of the social graphs that matter individually to them, bringing their friends from major social networks, gaming sites, and IM buddy lists directly into Meebo’s partner sites. Users can further engage with this expanded network by seamlessly sharing content via a new and intuitive sharing interface. Content sites interested in increasing the volume of content sharing, but without their own social graph, can use the multi-network IM feature to expand their reach and drive social interactions.

Partners are expected to benefit from increased social engagement and faster growth through sharing features that let users instantly send links to any of their friends.

Statusplug, the service to sell advertising on your Facebook page

Some days ago I announced the upcoming PayPerFacebookStatusUpdate rather tongue in cheek. Now it seems that this area already covered is for Facebook Page administrators. If you have a rather popular Facebook page with thousands of fans and want to earn a quick buck from the effort you put in to maintaining your page, StatusPlug is an advertising network offering exactly this.

Advertisers can share media files or just links. Publishers have the freedom to refuse campaigns they do not wish to promote. Right now the statusplug directory does not offer many opportunities yet, but several rather large pages such as Laughing when someone falls (almost 2million fans) and Chocolate chip cookies (more than 1million fans) are present already.
Prices start at $50 and go up to $800 right now (Laughing when someone falls).

It will be interesting to see if this service grows or if other players will join this space, accelerate their efforts to own the Facebook Status Updates advertising market.
@TedMurphy, yes we are looking at you.

Splashpress Media finally on Facebook

Last but not least, Splashpress Media finally launched its own Facebook page. You can now follow a selection of the finest Splashpress Media content on Facebook.

And 901am finally has a 901am Twitter account.

Coming soon: Pay per Tweet, then Pay per Facebook status update

IZEA, of PayPerPost fame, is preparing the launch of PayPerTweet according to AdWeek. Twitter users will get paid based on a flat fee pro tweet or depending on the amount of clicks they get. Users will be required to disclose sponsored tweets with the hashtag #spon.

When the platforms launches, launch is expected next week, we can prepare for a new shitstorm in a glass about advertising and disclosure and daring to make a quick buck from an online profile.

That said, if the Twitter team agrees with this advertising concept, possibilities for IZEA are big and one can only wonder why Twitter didn’t come up with this. IZEA could go big here and catch the eyeballs of bigger brands all while also linking up with big media companies, who have automated their twitter feed. Since the celebrity invasion of Twitter there are less media feeds in the Twitter Top 100, but many news corporations have more than 100.000 followers, both main stream media or new media. The reason why these feeds are the most appropriate ones to advertise on are simple: More →

Tweeting too Hard, when Twitter and Facebook fail for self-validation

One of the great things about Twitter, and since recently Facebook, is the huge amount of self-validation you get from both platforms. As if that alone wasn’t enough yet, you can now get even more validation at Tweeting too Hard.

What is Tweeting too Hard?

There’s always that person at a party that is trying way too hard. Well, Twitter is a party and those people are here, too. Actually, it could be you.

Tweeting Too Hard is the place to submit, vote on, and chuckle self-righteously at tweets that are just too much. Self-importance, pretense, braggadocio—it’s all here and it’s laid bare for the scoffing.

We all know someone who is due for a good-natured tweet-roast. So get to it. Click the big green submit button and make the world a better place.

Staples launches I Shred U! Facebook application

Have you been a victim of bad photo tagging on Facebook? Perhaps it was that old prom photo sporting your signature big 80’s hairdo? Or those pictures from the company holiday party you hoped would never resurface? Now, you can have the last laugh, with the launch of the Staples I Shred U! Facebook application from Staples, Inc. I Shred U! allows Facebook users to tell their friends how they really feel about those bad photos, by shredding it to bits via a virtual shredder and sending it back with a personalized message. I Shred U! also lets users “trick” photos by giving friends and family a hilarious new look.

With more than 200 million active users on Facebook uploading over 850 million photos each month, the Staples I Shred U! application will be the first of its kind to allow users to virtually shred bad photos without actually deleting the picture from their friend’s Facebook album. Want to send a clear message to the friend who tagged you in that bad picture? Facebook users can choose a distinct Staples brand shredder to shred those unforgiving photos, and then alert friends of their action. To keep the fun going, users can “trick out” photos from their Facebook albums by adding mullets, mustaches, speech bubbles and more.
