Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gets Banned in Russia, Totally

What is it with Governments not getting the very premise of video games – that they are video games?  Seriously, do people in the government really think that gamers are dumb enough that they would believe in game plots and all?

As for Russian gamers who reacted against some parts of the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 since it seems to put Russia in bad light, well same thing goes to you – it is just a video game. The game actually is not all Russia-bashing type of game. What earned the ire of the Russian govenrnment and perhaps some Russian gamers was just a part in the game where it was located in a Russian airport. This according to report was inflammatory against Russia and has generated quite a discussion in the gaming circuit. In the end prompting the Russian government to recall the game from Russian stores.

Another issue being put on the table is how the game ignores the sensitivities of the Russian culture, even portraying the Russians as terrorists.

Infinity Ward, the game’s developers corrected the game and is now seeking permission to release a new version of the game.  But it will most unlikely be released considering the fact the game plot is still the same – the war between US and Russia
