Facebook Puts Highlights Front and Center on Homepage

Facebook Homepage

Are you sick of inane games, quizzes, and status updates cluttering up the central column of your Facebook homepage? Yeah, so am I. That’s why I’m very happy to see Facebook has introduced two new homepage views.

The “new” News Feed features the highlights that used to be tucked away down in the right sidebar. This is the stuff Facebook’s algorithms figured would be important to you. This should theoretically result in less stupid crap front and center.

If you like stupid crap, however, you can get all of it in the Live Feed. This update accommodates both kinds of users — the busy people who want to see the events that really matter in their networks, and the lifeless people who want to find out which Carebears their friends are.
