Tiscali launches “Music for Life” download service
Just when you thought there were no companies left jumping on the music download bandwagon, along comes UK ISP Tiscali with their offering.
Claiming a catalogue of 6.5 million tracks, including artists such as Johnny Cash, Paul Weller, Temper Trap, The White Stripes, and Adele.
It can boast this number of tracks because it has partnered with eMusic. That means you won’t necessarily get all the latest tunes as you might on services like iTunes, but still have access to a decent range of music.
To make the service more of a portal, Tiscali will pull in relevant artist content from sites like YouTube and Wikipedia, as well as featuring music editorial.
Downloads are DRM-free (at least, tracks are compatible with all PMPs and can be burned to multiple CDs).
Anyone signing up for the 14-day free trial of Music for Life will get 50 free tracks.
