iPad 2’s Real Nemesis Could Make Apple Sweat
Although we shouldn’t write off Android entirely (after all, GalaxyTab 8.9 could become a hit), Google’s tablet OS is still rather buggy and truth be told needs a bit more polish in order to outshine iPad 2.
However there seems to be one tablet that can potentially challenge iPad 2, as a recent video highlighting an upcoming version of webOS reveals below.
According to PreCentral, HP’s latest version of webOS is still in beta, so the demo above is rather buggy (not to mention lacking flash).
While webOS does boast a superior design than iOS, TouchPad’s greatest weakness thus far is the lack of apps (as their app store boasts less than 10,000 apps as of this post).
HP needs to take a cue from Microsoft, and pay developers to create official apps for the tablet or poach developers from iOS with incentives for creating webOS apps (i.e. no HP tax for the first 100 days of launch).
TouchPad will reportedly make a debut in June, and is expected to match or undercut Apple’s prices (which may help the company build up market share in order to challenge Apple’s reign).
