Samsung Galaxy Skin for 2012 release
Samsung’s design aesthetics when it comes to its phone can be a hit or miss affair but although the company may have released some duds in terms of phone functionality or design, it has also released a lot of winners. Samsung has a lot of sought-after phones and I’ve got a very strong feeling that the Samsung Galaxy Skin is going to be one of them.
The Samsung Galaxy Skin was originally presented to the public as a design concept. And the reason was obvious – the Galaxy Skin uses a component that hasn’t been seen on a phone ever before – a flexible AMOLED display. Using this material makes the display totally bendable. It’s a crazy concept that is initially thought to be just that – a concept. But apparently, Samsung really has plans of using the flexible AMOLED in producing an actual phone. And now, this cool phone has officially been announced as an upcoming model in the Samsung phone lineup. Samsung has pegged the release of the Galaxy Skin sometime in 2012. No exact month has been given yet.
So what will we expect from the Galaxy Skin? For starters it will approximately be as thick as the Samsung Galaxy S2. It may also have the same width. The display real estate will double though when it is fully unfolded. It will come in both 16GB and 32GB varieties. And what about the much vaunted folding display? IT will be made from a material called graphene. This polymide substrate is going to completely replace the glass used on phones for this model. This material has really unique properties. You can bend it or roll it without any effects to the image quality, and yet it is tough enough to survive hard blows. This could become THE must-have phone of 2012.
Samsung recently announced that the Galaxy Skin is just a “production render” made by a University school of design. so much for having a cool phone for 2012.
