Will Samsung’s Gamble On Galaxy Tab 10.1 Pay Off?

galaxy tab 10 1 float 490x365 Will Samsungs Gamble On Galaxy Tab 10.1 Pay Off?

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (similar to it’s little brother) will be making it’s public debut soon to the delight of Android fans everywhere.

While expectations will be high for the Android tablet in light of Xoom’s dismal launch, Samsung unfortunately is making their first (and perhaps only) mistake in marketing their iPad contender.

But before you get your hopes up, that June 8th date isn’t exactly a nationwide launch — the Tab 10.1 will initially be available at only the Union Square Best Buy store in New York City.  (This Is My Next)

Note: Emphasis theirs.

Although Galaxy Tab 10.1 will match iPad 2′s starting price at $499, Samsung’s attempt at creating an artificial shortage (in order to build hype) will backfire if other stores report dismal numbers when Galaxy Tab 10.1 goes on sale nationwide on June 17th.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be running the latest version of Honeycomb (Android’s OS for tablets), and unfortunately a bland user interface thanks to Google’s hatred of customized layouts.

Note: Hopefully Samsung will have ironed out Honeycomb’s flash issues at launch, as failure to nail this critical feature down could drive even more users into the hands of Steve Jobs walled garden.
