Blog Listing Sites: Another Way to Promote Your Blog

Not many blog owners, particularly the new ones, know about the existence of blog directories. But this is one avenue which need to be fully utilized to promote one’s site to the rest of the world.

Being a directory, these sites lists blog links and classify them according to specific categories and sub-categories. Compared to the regular websites, blog directories are considered to have more authority. And while they may not be often used by people to search for sites or links they want, it is still a must to do this step.

The Pros of Directory Submission

There are advantages when a blog link gets listed in a directory, one of which is in terms of search engine optimization (SEO).

Search engines normally index sites recently listed in web directories by first crawling all links in a directory. In addition, new search engines automatically index links that have already been verified which in turn saves you a lot of time in being included in the search results.

What this also means is that your site gets search engine traffic. The chances of your blog landing in the top 10 search results is high eventually translating to more people going to your web pages.

When your site is approved and included in the listing, you get a one-way link. This means you are not required to post the link of the directory back to your own blog. It also confirms the value of your online presence. It means your blog is trustworthy and useful. As your site becomes visible on the web, there’s a good chance that you will be able to build a good reputation online.

Another benefit is being able to use the anchor text you prefer. This is normally in the title and description of your site which should contain keywords that will help improve your rankings in the search results. It should be noted, however, that some directories only accommodate links while the others may include a blog description.

Gaining targeted traffic is an additional benefit. With the categories available, people will be able to find the right links they want. In short, you can be sure to attract the right audience to your site moving forward.

There’s no price to pay for submitting links to blog directories. Most of them are free the reason why publishers, bloggers and companies should not take them for granted.

Bloggers and writers can also utilize the numerous resources for writers available on these directories. Make sure to choose the right category to easily find the sites.
