Hidden Safari Features on iPhone

The iPhone allows users to do many things – make a phone call, surf the Web, watch a film – all by just touching a virtual button. However, there are also plenty of ‘hidden’ features waiting to be discovered, especially with the Safari web browser.

Make a call from Safari

If a user finds a phone number in Safari that they’d like to call (for example, the phone number of a reputable online gadget insurance company) then they do not need to jump to the phone component to ring it. New AppAide App Will Recommend Apps Based on Usage

Trying to find a good app can be hard at times because you need to wade through thousands of apps that are already in the market. Fortunately, this is a predicament that has been in the minds of other app developers and it’s being addressed with, you guessed it, an app.

AppAide is an app that will make recommendations of other apps based on your actual usage. The app, which was developed by BetaBait, uses much of the same technology that is being used by BetaNoodle, a company that BetaBait acquired recently. [Read more…]

Pearltrees Releases iPhone App

One of the more interesting productivity apps that has come out recently is Pearltrees. It’s an app that helps a user in collecting and organizing their interests and related information.

Pearltrees does something that is also addressed by other apps but it does it differently by presenting the information in a unique, but very effective way. A few months ago, it released a web app and then released an iPad app. Now, Pearltrees is coming to the iPhone.  [Read more…]

Research Reveals Siri Only Used For Limited Number of Tasks

It’s been six months since the release of the iPhone 4S. The newest generation of Apple’s insanely popular smartphone came with a truly wonderful feature. Siri was the virtual assistant that captured the imagination of the Apple faithful. Apple boasted that it will be a game changer, but has it?

According to research conducted by Parks Associates among 482 iPhone 4S owners, it was discovered that 87 percent of the owners used Siri at least once a month. Among those questioned, slightly over half said they were very satisfied with the way Siri worked. Around 20 percent of the respondents said they are not as enthusiastic about Siri but still find that they are satisfied with it. About nine percent said they were unsatisfied with Siri. NYC Taxis in Square Mobile Payment System Pilot Program

The Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) of New York City has given the go-ahead for Square Mobile Payment system to conduct a pilot program.

The approved pilot program will involve 30 NYC taxicabs (the city has a total of 13,237 taxis) and will run for one whole year. The taxis under the program will be installed with iPads in the backseat, replacing the Creative Mobile and Verifone Taxi TVs. Aside from the iPad, the drivers will also access an iPhone that is installed within their easy reach. The iPhone will help in processing credit cards, looking at traffic data and other types of information. [Read more…]
