MySpace and MTV present Presidential Dialogue with John McCain

August 21, 2023 By Dennis Bouchand

mccain.pngOn December 3 at 7pm ET, Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) will be the third presidential candidate, and first Republican, to participate in the groundbreaking MySpace/MTV Presidential Dialogue series. The interactive Dialogue will take place at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH with an in-person audience of university students, and for the first time, be simultaneously broadcast live on MTV, MySpace, MTV’s ChooseOrLose.com, cross-carriers on MTV Mobile, and translated live into Spanish via ImpreMedia’s LaVibra.

Myspace.com/election2008 and www.ChooseOrLose.com is now accepting user-submitted video questions (30 seconds or less) on the issues that matter most to young voters in the upcoming elections. Submissions will be accepted through Sunday, December 2, and the video with the highest ratings and community response on Monday will be posed to Sen. McCain during the evening dialogue.

A revolutionary online polling tool, powered by Flektor, allows the online audience to instantaneously register its approval or disapproval of candidate responses throughout the event. The Flektor tool enables the series’ industry-leading pollsters, John McLaughlin and Geoffrey Garin, to custom tailor in-depth response options for the online audience, providing viewers the means to register immediate feedback on the candidate’s responses and help to shape the direction of the forum. Poll results are displayed on the screen and viewers can compare their opinions to those of the entire community through a “popular vote” function.

MTV Networks is working with Intercasting Corporation, a mobile social networking company, and its award- winning platform, ANTHEM, to develop a mobile social network around MTV Tr3s. The Latino focused mobile social network, to be called Con3xion, also marks the first time Intercasting has partnered with a major entertainment company to develop a mobile social networking initiative. MTV Tr3s plans to extend its community functionality to the web in the near future.

mtvU greenlights “Cause Effect” with Windows Live Messenger

August 21, 2023 By Dennis Bouchand

causeeffect.pngmtvU, teaming up with Microsoft Corp. through the Windows Live Messenger‘s I’m Initiative, premiered “Cause Effect,” a new multi-platform series profiling standout student activists on college campuses nationwide. Each episode spotlights two remarkable students, examining how they’ve used digital tools to effect positive, real world change, and inspired others to take action and make a difference on pressing social issues such as poverty, child protection, disease, environmental degradation and animal rights.

The new mtvU series is an extension of the Windows Live Messenger I’m Initiative, in which Microsoft Corp. donates a portion of the program’s advertising revenue to one of several cause-related organizations every time a user has a conversation using the instant messaging software. The ten organizations currently participating in the program are the American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, The Humane Society of the United States, National AIDS Fund, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, ninemillion.org, Sierra Club, StopGlobalWarming.org, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and UNICEF. Microsoft joining forces with mtvU and Think.MTV.com takes the i’m Initiative well beyond the instant messaging window.
