Lost Phones in the US in 2011 Pegged at $30B

Losing a phone is something a lot of people have experienced. We’ve either gone through this experience or heard of others going losing their phones. Losing a phone is a very inconvenient thing to go through – most people don’t back up their phone details so the loss of data can be quite catastrophic.

According to new industry report by mobile security company Lookout, the average US mobile phone user loses a phone every year. The report was based on an analysis done on 15 million mobile phone users. About $30 billion worth of mobile phones were lost last year. [Read more…]

Boeing to Manufacture an Android Powered Smartphone

Here’s some news that totally comes from left field.

Boeing, the world-renowned aeronautics giant, is going to enter the mobile industry. The company has announced that it will be launching its own smartphone soon.

The report about Boeing’s smartphone plans appeared in National Defense, a  trade magazine. Boeing hopes to release the Android powered smartphone later this year. Development of the device is still ongoing. [Read more…]

Instagram Tops App Store, Gets 1M Downloads in Android

Instagram got a lot of flak from iOS users when two events happened within the space of days – Instagram’s release of an Android version of the popular photo shooting app and the announcement that Facebook as bought the company behind Instagram for a cool $1 billion. Research Reveals Siri Only Used For Limited Number of Tasks

It’s been six months since the release of the iPhone 4S. The newest generation of Apple’s insanely popular smartphone came with a truly wonderful feature. Siri was the virtual assistant that captured the imagination of the Apple faithful. Apple boasted that it will be a game changer, but has it?

According to research conducted by Parks Associates among 482 iPhone 4S owners, it was discovered that 87 percent of the owners used Siri at least once a month. Among those questioned, slightly over half said they were very satisfied with the way Siri worked. Around 20 percent of the respondents said they are not as enthusiastic about Siri but still find that they are satisfied with it. About nine percent said they were unsatisfied with Siri.
