MySpace Connects with Facebook, on Fan Video Site at Least

June 30, 2023 By Arnold Zafra

Not so long ago, it was rumored that Facebook Connect will be implemented on MySpace. That means, you can now login to your MySpace account via Facebook’s single sign on facility. And that also means that you can easily share your MySpace’s actvities on your Facebook account. Yes, that’s the advantage of using Facebook Connect.

But after that, the news just simply died down. We haven’t heard anything about it until now. It looks like the facility is being quietly rolled out. At least on MySpace Fan Video site. If you check it out right now, a box with “Connect with Facebook” option will be displayed. And clicking that will trigger the usual Facebook Connect process, that  includes you logging in to the MySpace Fan Video site using your Facebook credentials.

It’s a pretty neat and simple integration process, that you wouldn’t think that it has no great impact to both sites. Actually it has. It will open up more opportunities for both MySpace and Facebook. Although we’re not really counting on a future merger. It’s a far-fetched idea.  But this is a good start for the two rivals to start mutually operating in a harmonious manner. Bottomline of it all is that we, social networking users stand to benefit later on.

If you want to try this feature out, just visit MySpace Fan Video site, login with your Facebook profile, select videos from the available music videos of current popular artists and start sharing them with your friends and family on Facebook and Twitter as well.

YouTube has started featuring Facebook videos shared by your friends right on its home page, says YouTube’s Official Blog. What this means is that every time your Facebook friends embed videos, it will be automatically pushed to your YouTube account. So, this practically gives you two ways of finding out what your friends have uploaded – either from YouTube or Facebook.

The feature is currently in beta mode. But the YouTube blog gave a work around to try out the feature.  Just go to this page and look just connect your Facebook account to YouTube. Once the verification process is complete, you would soon start seeing your friends’ video feeds on your YouTube homepage.

While you’re still there, you might want enable or disable autoshare as well if you don’t want your YouTube videos syndicated on Facebook. Although, I’m not really sure why you would want to do that since feeding your YouTube videos to Facebook gives it more audience.

You can also connect to your Facebook friends by using the search friends function on the YouTube homepage.

Facebook Connect: Ace in the Hole

June 26, 2023 By Mike Abundo

Facebook ConnectNicholas Carlson reports that Facebook Connect, the service that allows Facebook users to log into third-party sites using their Facebook credentials, is seeing rapid adoption. Just seven months after launch, over ten thousand sites have integrated the service — from mainstream hangouts like Hulu, to geek havens like Digg, to personal WordPress blogs through a plugin.

So what’s so hot about Facebook Connect, especially in competition with Google Friend Connect? I’ve compared the two services in a previous post, but here’s what Facebook itself has to say about the benefits of Facebook Connect: [Read more…]
