Facebook Starts Rolling Out New Site Navigation Features

January 2, 2023 By Arnold Zafra

In case you didn’t know, Facebook is celebrating its 6 years of existence today.  So as one way of celebrating this event, the world’s no.1 social networking site is introducing some new navigation features that would help us all quickly find what we are looking for on our individual Facebook home page.

First of these changes is the top menu where you can now find the newest notifications, requests and messages indicated by a red bubble that would appear in the left-hand corner of the home page near the search bar. Clicking on this red bubble will display a pull-down menu showing recent notifications.

Speaking of the search bar, this was also change a bit. Actually more of relocated or pushed to the center of the top menu a bit.

The other update is on the left menu navigation part of  the Facebook home page where the links to your different contents are now more organized including your Photos, Events and Friends dashboard.

If you’re fond of chatting with your friends, you’d also notice that the chat icon is now located on the lower left side of the screen from its previous location on the lower right side of your home page. [Read more…]

YouTube Now Streaming Facebook Video Feeds

January 2, 2023 By Arnold Zafra

YouTube has started featuring Facebook videos shared by your friends right on its home page, says YouTube’s Official Blog. What this means is that every time your Facebook friends embed videos, it will be automatically pushed to your YouTube account. So, this practically gives you two ways of finding out what your friends have uploaded – either from YouTube or Facebook.

The feature is currently in beta mode. But the YouTube blog gave a work around to try out the feature.  Just go to this page and look just connect your Facebook account to YouTube. Once the verification process is complete, you would soon start seeing your friends’ video feeds on your YouTube homepage.

While you’re still there, you might want enable or disable autoshare as well if you don’t want your YouTube videos syndicated on Facebook. Although, I’m not really sure why you would want to do that since feeding your YouTube videos to Facebook gives it more audience.

You can also connect to your Facebook friends by using the search friends function on the YouTube homepage.

January 2, 2023 By Arnold Zafra

Flashback to 2002, there were no Facebook or Twitter yet. Then came a social networking site called Friendster. In no time at all, Friendster became a big hit.
