Scary but true… David Hasselhoff launches Hoffspace

September 18, 2023 By Dennis Bouchand 1 Comment

MySpace, Facebook, Friendster, and Bebo. So you think you have so many social networks already? How about some niched ones? How about a social network with a niche on David Hasselhoff? Scary but true.

David Hasselhoff is inviting you to join Hoffspace, his own social network. Powered by Ning, Hoffspace has all the functionalities of a social network– a dash of friends, groups, photos, blogs, videos, message board, and tons of Hasselhoff.

“In my travels round the world I have always been surprised that no matter where I go people recognize and know me, from Europe, Australia and India to the Philippines and the Zulu Nation in South Africa. This got me thinking… I realized that while two people from two entirely different countries and backgrounds may seem to have nothing in common, the only thing they might have in common is me… So I decided to start a network where people from across the world might come together and get a conversation started over me. Where it will lead, I don’t know but the world would be a better place if everyone talked a little more to each other…,” Hasselhoff said. A little conceited but that’s Hasselhoff.

Interested? Sign-up now! Ooops I forgot to remind you, please keep this site away from children.

Shutterfly launches photo-based social network

September 18, 2023 By Dennis Bouchand Leave a Comment

Personal publishing site Shutterfly, Inc. has launched Shutterfly Share Sites, a new service that combines the best of photo sites, blogs, and social networking in a way that allows customers to easily connect and collaborate with friends and family in a safe and secure environment. Share Sites bring a new dimension to story-telling by creating a single destination to solve the challenges of “multiple camera, single event” photo occasions like family reunions, weddings and team sporting events.

When visiting the Share Site, members can add photos, share photo books, write journal entries and post comments. Even better, in just a few clicks, members can make a variety of photo books, cards, calendars and other photo merchandise using the photos from their Share Site. Also, Share Site owners receive a dedicated email address for their site where members can email comments and photos that are posted directly to their Share Site.

Shutterfly customers have created more than 60,000 individual Share Sites since the Company opened its beta test earlier this summer.

How to Be a Better Dad

September 15, 2023 By Andrew G. R. 2 Comments

Just like Twitter asks, ‘What are you doing right now?’ – a new Website wants you to answer the following: ‘How am I going to be a better dad?’

Odadeo is a new social network that aims to help fathers keep their promises, make pledges and lean on other dads for support and advice.

Whether you’re stuck at work late on a regular basis or find yourself losing your temper, Odadeo lets you track the progress of the things you care about.

There is also a microblogging aspect to the site that allows registered users to post updates via Web or SMS.

Kids are a focus of the equation too. Dads can create a page for each of their kids with plenty of privacy options. Of course, rounding out the social experience are photos, videos, and blog posts.

Odadeo is currently in private alpha, so only select dads make it in.

The Facebook for Small Business?

September 15, 2023 By Andrew G. R. Leave a Comment

Opening its doors this week is Sta.rtUp.biz, the self-proclaimed ‘Facebook for small business.’

Hoping to weed out the non-business types you often find on other social networks, the startup hopes to connect like-minded individuals and become a hotbed for advice.

One feature that sets the site apart is the fact that they have a rotating panel of experts that actively participate in the forums.  From legal issues to SEO questions, people ‘in the know’ are available to answer your queries.

The helpful resources include a lot of video and text.  On the homepage, you find a prominent link that gives you access to more than 50 videos from The Big Idea w/ Donny Deutsch, a show I happen to be quite fond of.
You also have quick access to daily articles from the ‘big 7’ magazines that appeal to small business.

Whether your small business needs inspiration, motivation, or management – Sta.rtUp.biz is worth checking out.
