The secretive Pentagon has condemned the controversial Google Street View, a feature providing 360° panoramic street-level views, as a threat to national security when it captured images near a military base.
Although the local security at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas gave permission to Google camera van to take shots, Pentagon is concerned that this could endanger the security measures since it actually shows the location of the guards, format of barriers, and the ins and outs of buildings.
Google can argue that images taken were from public streets so those images are not really confidential and sensitive information. But online search giant knows better when to make a case or shut up. Here, Google quickly complied with the request to remove these images.
