The WordPress developers have released version 2.1.1 and 2.0.9 respectively for the two maintained branches of the blogging platform. They’re calling it a low-to-medium priority update, but since there are security issues you should do it.
If you’re wondering where 2.0.8 went, it was never announced, although you can download it.
Lists of changed files in the release blog post.

Blogger.com seller Evan Williams’ company Obvious is selling Odeo, the hosted audio service. Williams founded Odeo, got investors, then used money from the Blogger.com sale to Google to buy it back. And now it’s up for sale.
It seems likely Odeo is worth more to someone else than it is to us at this point, so we’re looking for a new home for it. We’ve been having some conversations with potential buyers, and this is our attempt to put the word out more widely in the most expeditious way (and without involving investment bankers and the like). If we don’t get any attractive offers, we’ll continue to run it.
It’s not a bad deal since server costs are covered with Adsense ads according to the blog post. However, monetizing on a grander scale might be hard.
So what’s next for Evan Williams and Obvious? Well, they got that nifty little mobile blogging (or whatever) service Twitter to focus on, which is also listed as a reason for the sale.

Scoble points to a new virtual world that is yet to launch “Outback Online“. The main developer is apparently in Texas, with the rest of the team residing in Australia. From Scoble’s account, they’ll kick Second Life’s you know what with better graphics and the ability to host up to 10,000 people in a single space/ server. As an Australian I’m naturally inclined to say lots of good things about the project, particularly a start up with a strong Australian presence. But there is just one, very small problem. The Outback sucks.
This isn’t the fault exclusively of the developers. The romanticism in relation to the Outback goes back many, many years, to the writings of Banjo Paterson and Henry Lawson, and the poetry of Dorothea Mackellar (I love a Sunburnt Country). But the developers are stating that their graphics and capacity will be far greater then that of Second Life. Let me share a secret with anyone who has never visited the interior of Australia, which is the real reason why “Outback Australia” can and will be far superior to Second Life.

JetBlue CEO David Neeleman delivered a public apology for JetBlue’s operational problems last week when it cancelled more than 1,000 flights that delayed and stranded thousands of travelers due to storm. The CEO vowed to fix the problem and come up with a Customer Bill of Rights. Another chance, perhaps? They gave us the $39 airfare anyway from DC to Boston. Seriously speaking, owning up responsibility is the first stop to healing stained customer relations. Watch the video after the jump… [Read more…]
