January 13, 2023 By noemi

Playing video games is one of the most popular forms of entertainment today among kids and adults alike. With more games being developed by both indie and established developers, the number of people getting hooked is also on the rise. Even the number of women purchasing and playing video games as well as those involved in game developing is now keeping up with the males.

In the U.S., 48 percent of gamers today are females while in the U.K., a 2014 study revealed that 52 percent of gamers are women. Of the female gamers in the U.K., 56 percent of them have played on a console and 68 percent have played online.

ESRB To Begin Rating Mobile Games

January 9, 2023 By 901am

The Entertainment Software Rating Board or ESRB is an organization that gamers know quite well. It is the main organization that provides ratings for games in the United States. The ESRB’s domain has always been limited to video games that come out on game consoles, PCs and gaming handhelds. But the organization is now setting its sights on the fastest growing gaming niche in the market today, mobile devices.

The ESRB, along wth the CTIA Wireless Trade Association, is planning to release a new rating system that is aimed solely at mobile games. The unveiling is reportedly scheduled on November 29. Great! PSP is now a Comics Reader

January 2, 2023 By Arnold Zafra

Comics and video games compliment each other, right? Pretty soon, both these seemingly becoming entertainment media for the big boys will be sharing a new platform. Actually, that soon is almost now, as the PSP Comic Store (link is still broke at this time)  has just gone live.

So, if you own any of the several PSP units, you can now bring hundreds of digitized comics from Marvel, Disney, IDW, Titan, iVerse and 2000AD catalogues, anywhere with you. Some underground comic titles as well as those locally published ones will also be available in the Playstation Digital Comic Store.

It’s a good thing that the PSP Comic Store will only be initially available to the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa stores. Otherwise, it  would be enough reason for me to get a new PSP unit since I already passed on my unit to my son. And buying one would be too costly since I just got a new PS3 the other day.

Anyway, the European Playstation Blog says that the PSP Comic Store should also feature free comics, great!  Aside from that, the PSP Comic Store would also feature AutoFlow, making it easier to navigate through the whole PSP Comic Store catalog.

Alright PSP fan boys, go check out the PSP Comic Store and start downloading your favorite comics in their digital format now.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gets Banned in Russia, Totally

January 2, 2023 By Arnold Zafra

What is it with Governments not getting the very premise of video games – that they are video games?  Seriously, do people in the government really think that gamers are dumb enough that they would believe in game plots and all?

As for Russian gamers who reacted against some parts of the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 since it seems to put Russia in bad light, well same thing goes to you – it is just a video game. [Read more…]
