A Visual History Of Telephones

July 7, 2023 By 901am blog

In less than 2 decades mobile (or cell) phones have become one of the most defining communication devices in history. Almost every one young and old owns at least one mobile phone today. Many people own two, or sometimes more! For whatever reason, communication equipment has been one of the major focuses of the advancing world of technology. Before communication tools were very limited, people spent quite a lot to communicate with their loved ones and even business partners across sea, that is why when cellular phones were invented, everyone grabbed a piece of it and so the revolution of mobile phones began. Today, mobile phones do not just allow you to communicate easily with just about anybody, they allow you to share moments by the second with people you want to connect with.

Below is a visual history of phones and mobile phones.

Opera Mini Browser Arrives on Windows Mobile Phones

June 30, 2023 By Arnold Zafra

So right after releasing version 10.50 of its web browser for Windows, here comes Opera again with another  announcement  which we would not have expected to happen. Opera Software just released a native version of its Opera Mini 5 beta for Windows Mobile 5- and 6-based phones.

This means that Windows Mobile phones just got a an optimized version of the Opera Mini browser which hopefully would improve the web browsing performance of these phones. What’s interesting about this development is that despite requiring Java, Opera was able to make the Mini browser to run on Windows mobile phones. These phone models happen to be unsupportive of Java technology. But then, Opera managed to bypass this requirements.

Even without Java running, the Opera Mini 5 beta for WinMo phones offers the same browsing experience as the Opera Mini 5 in mobile phones that support Java. So, you’d also get to use Opera’s famous features such as tabbed browsing, password manager, bookmarks and speed dial. These are all built-in to the Windows Mobile OS.

But perhaps what makes this development even more important is the fact this will definitely improve the performance of WinMo phones since Opera is known for compressing data traffic by up to 90%. This translates to a significang improvement to page-loading and speed.  Of course, bottomline of all of this is reduced mobile data cost for users when browsing the web on their Windows Mobile phones.
