Panasonic to Introduce Eluga To Europe

There was a time when mobile phones made by Panasonic was readily available all over the world. But the Japanese company decided to leave the worldwide market in 2006 and just concentrated on manufacturing and selling phones in Japan, where it has had a lot of success. Currently, 20 percent of the mobile phones in Japan are made by Panasonic.

After years of catering exclusively to the Japanese market, Panasonic is now ready to return to the global market. The company announced its intent last year with news that it will begin selling smartphones in Europe again this year. [Read more…]

Google Tightens Security Around Android Market

Google recently announced that it has strengthened the security tools around the company’s Android mobile operating system. The announcement was made through a post published on the Google Mobile blog. The announcement came from Hiroshi Lockheimer, the Vice President of Engineering for Android.

One of the things that Lockheimer shared is a new service called Bouncer. This new security tool scans the Android Market and specifically looks for malicious software. Bouncer was designed to run in the background to detect malware. Bouncer will not interfere with the operations of Android Market. CyanogenMod To Open Its Own App Market

If you have an Android smartphone or tablet that you have rooted with CyanogenMod then you’ll be pleased to know that the guys behind the popular Android custom ROM are going to put up its own application store.

This was announced by Koushik Dutta, one of the people behind CyanogenMod. Dutta said the new store, which will be an independent enterprise, will bring in much needed revenue for CyanogenMod. Android Tablets Global Market Share Growing

Strategy Analytics, a market analysis company, recently released its report on the global market for tablets for the fourth quarter of 2011. The company’s analysis showed that even though the Apple iPad is still the market leader with a very formidable 58 percent share of the market, Android tablets are fast gaining ground with Android powered tablets now getting 39 percent of the market. Windows powered tablets have also figured in the results, accounting for 1 percent of the global market share. [Read more…]

Google Releases Android Design Guide

Google has finally announced something that they should have done when they first released their hit mobile operating system, Android – an Android Design Guide.

The design guide was unveiled by Google recently and it was created by former Palm lead designer Matias Duarte. The design guide aims to provide software developers who plan to make apps or modify Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with a set guideline so that they will offer elements and software behavior that is consistent with each other regardless of who the developer is.
