Apple iPad 2 now only $399

Now that the new iPad has been announced, all of the attention of gadget lovers will be on this newest of Apple’s offerings, anticipating when it will finally be made available for sale. But while all of the attention is on the new kid on the block, the iPad 2 is still very much alive and at a new price point that may actually turn more than a few heads.

Apple has announced that it is not totally discontinuing the iPad 2 but will instead offer it a budget price. The iPad 2 will now only come in two variants the 16GB WiFi only version and the 16GB WiFi/3G version. The former will cost $399 and the latter will sell for $529. [Read more…]

Is Google Trying to Be Like Apple?

The search engine giant’s latest excursions into mobile phone patents and entertainment gadgets have the tech world abuzz. Could it be that Google wants to be the next Apple? Does Google have the right stuff to topple the Cupertino giant?

Google has never shied away from dabbling into diverse endeavors. While Google has yet to enter the realm of hardware manufacture, the company’s prolific software programs and buyouts have slowly infiltrated nearly every aspect of digital communications. Some of Google’s products have elbowed out tech giants once considered invincible. Apple is at the top of its game, currently the most valuable company in the United States. Feature Phones Still Posting High Sales Figures

Smartphones may be getting most of the attention in the mobile phone industry because of the amazing features that are constantly being introduced by phone manufacturers. But feature phones are not entirely dead yet. In fact, feature phones are still selling at a very impressive rate.

Apple Top Smartphone Manufacturer in the US, Android Top Platform

A newly released report by research firm Nielsen has significantly shown that Apple is still the top dog when it comes to the smartphone market. The report revealed that Apple is still the top smartphone manufacturer with the largest share in the market. But this position is slowly being threatened by other manufacturers who are making Android smartphones.

The Nielsen report – which compiles data taken from August through October of 2011 — showed that Apple has a strong 29 percent share of the smartphone market. The second top smartphone manufacturer is actually HTC, which has a 21 percent share. Coming in at third (surprisingly, at least to me) is RIM – the manufacturer of BlackBerry phones – which enjoys a 17 percent share of the market. Fourth place is occupied by Samsung and Motorola, which both have an 11 percent share of the smartphone market. [Read more…]

Australia Sales Ban on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Lifted

Samsung can chalk up another win against Apple in the ongoing legal warfare the two companies have been involved in. The ban on the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 version that was imposed by the court in Australia has been lifted. This means Samsung can now start selling the their tablet device that Apple loves to hate and it couldn’t come at a more perfect time as Christmas shopping is just about to heat up. [Read more…]
